Moving Memories 2017-2019
The Moving Memories project was set up by me and friend Jenny Ireland in 2017 with initial funding from Frome Town Council's Mayor's Grant scheme.
We delivered weekly gentle, seated movement sessions with music for people living with dementia and their carers/family members. Our venue was Frome Community Hospital and our weekly session was part of the Health Connections Mendip community provision.
The aims of the sessions were to improve participants' general fitness, emotional well-being and social interaction. Another important benefit was offering much need respite for carers.

To facilitate movement work we used a variety of props such as wooden sticks for rhythm work, colourful scarves, ribbon sticks, an octaband and a parachute.
In addition to movement work, we incorporated poetry, singing and half an hour for refreshments and social time at the end of each session.

Additional funding was kindly donated by Frome Selwood Rotary and Allen & Harris Solicitors
Participants shared a positive and uplifting experience in a non-judgemental setting, promoting well-being for all.
